Trawl Manufacturing
Pelagic
Custom demersal and pelagic trawl nets, built to your vessel and target species. AMS designs every trawl using our own ACRUX software, in consultation with the skipper and vessel managers, and builds using modern high-tenacity material from Euronete — from the smallest to the largest deep-sea trawlers working in South African and Namibian waters.
Pelagic Trawls (Semi-Pelagic & Mid-Water)
For high-lift semi-pelagic or mid-water trawls, AMS supplies the same proven design and build process, matched to your target species and vessel.
As fish availability changes — with sea temperature, feed availability and spawning cycles — the trawl needed changes with it, depending on where the fish have dispersed vertically in the water column.
Once fish spread higher off the seabed, a semi-pelagic trawl is used, with a vertical mouth opening of 20 to 30 metres from seabed to headline.
Mid-water trawls operate further up in the water column again, targeting species like horse mackerel. They’re designed to match the towing vessel’s horsepower, and vary considerably in size.

How We Deliver It
Every trawl starts with consultation — AMS works directly with the skipper and vessel managers to match the trawl to vessel power and trawl objectives, using our own ACRUX design software, before building using high-tenacity Euronete material.
Why AMS
AMS designs and builds using our own ACRUX software and Euronete’s high-tenacity material — trawls that run on vessels of every size across South African and Namibian waters. For the design story behind every trawl, see Trawl Design.
Where We Deliver This Service
Trawls are built at our Cape Town and Walvis Bay factories, and can be delivered to any customer across the Southern African region.
